Genedata Expands Abcam Antibody R&D Partnership

Expanded collaboration deploys Genedata Biologics across Abcam’s global R&D sites to accelerate antibody development and AI-enabled innovation.

Genedata, a provider of enterprise software for biopharmaceutical R&D, has announced an expanded collaboration with Abcam, a provider of validated antibodies and assay solutions.

The two companies aim to strengthen antibody development capabilities, unlock the value of scientific data, and accelerate AI-enabled innovation by deploying Genedata Biologics across Abcam’s global R&D organization.

The Genedata Biologics platform enables teams to manage complex workflows, track sample history, and capture and analyze antibody characterization data within a secure, structured environment. By bringing data, processes, and teams together, Abcam can work more efficiently and advance promising candidates faster, helping researchers gain access to the high-quality antibodies they need sooner.

Genedata Biologics has already been implemented at Abcam’s headquarters in the UK and key sites in China and the U.S., creating a unified data foundation that connects global, cross-functional teams. The platform enables greater consistency, visibility, and collaboration throughout the antibody development process, helping Abcam scale operations while maintaining high-quality standards.

“As researchers seek high-quality antibodies across a growing range of targets and applications, it is essential that we continue to scale and evolve our development capabilities to meet their needs,” said Kaveh Kahen, PhD, President at Abcam. “By building on Genedata’s world class platform we benefit from automation, connectivity, and flexibility needed to support our global R&D operations. Together, we have created a stronger foundation for data-driven innovation, enabling us to develop and deliver high-quality antibodies more efficiently and create greater value for customers.”

“Abcam and Genedata share a commitment to applying data and technology to accelerate scientific innovation,” said Othmar Pfannes, PhD, President of Genedata. “By combining Abcam’s deep expertise in antibody development with the Genedata Biologics platform, we are creating an environment where Abcam’s scientific teams can collaborate more effectively, generate actionable insights at scale, and build on a strong foundation for AI-powered discovery. The ultimate beneficiaries are researchers, who gain faster access to the validated reagents that support high-quality scientific outcomes.”
